Kate Middleton is set to become further integrated within the world of royalty when she makes Kensington Palace her family home with the Duke of Cambridge. Kate Middleton and Prince William will live in PRINCESS MARGARET's former apartment after the Queen intervened, according to The Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail reports that about £1?million will be spent renovating the four-storey, 20-room Apartment 1A, which initially was managed by Historic Royal Palaces, an independent charity, but was then returned back to the Royal Household after the Queen intervened and persuaded the organisation to return back the estate. The renovation works include installing new plumbing, rewiring the electrics and removing asbestos; funding of which will come from by a mix of public grants and contributions from the Royal Family's own fortune. The estate has not been lived in since the death of the Queen's sister in 2002. Due to all the extensive work being carried out, this means that the couple will not be able to move in until at least 2013. At the moment, William and Kate live both in Nottingham Cottage, a two-bedroom home in the grounds of Kensington Palace, and their Anglesey residence. However, this upgrade is sure to cement their familial future. A source told The Mail on Sunday: 'William and Kate visited Apartment 1A and loved it. Kate particularly adored the private walled garden because she loves gardening, and she just thought the house has so much potential. She also liked the fact it was so close to Kensington High Street".

A spokesman for Historic Royal Palaces told The Daily Mail that they were "delighted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen Kensington Palace as their permanent home".
