Kate Silverton Gives Birth To 'Clemency Florence Rose'
Kate Silverton, the Bbc Breakfast host, has given birth to a baby girl and named the child 'Clemency Florence Rose'. The child was delivered naturally on Saturday evening (6th November 2011) and weighed in at 8lbs 9oz, according to the Press Association.
The presenter and husband Mike Heron had tried four cycles of Ivf treatment and acupuncture without success, however, Silverton finally conceived naturally. In a statement, her agent said, "Mother and baby are doing very, very well". The 41-year-old was told she was unlikely to ever get pregnant without help, after losing an ovary during an operation to remove a cyst when she was 29-years-old. The couple eventually resigned themselves to being childless, before discovering the good news earlier this year. Her agent added, "Mike and Kate would like to express their thanks to the Nhs staff at Queen Charlotte's Hospital in Hammersmith, especially leading midwife Jenny Smith and Dr Gowri Motha, for their help and support in ensuring Kate and Clemency had a natural and as gentle a birth as possible". Silverton herself added, "Clemency has big lips and big feet like her mummy".
Kate, who is expected to return to the Bbc in March, is deputy presenter of Bbc News at One, presenting on Mondays and when main presenter Sophie Raworth is unavailable. She began her career at the Beeb in 2005, presenting Bbc News 24 long with SIMON MCCOY.
