Rolf Harris Is Delighted About Plans To Build New Children's Hospice
Rolf Harris has publically declared his happiness after plans to build a children's hospice in Berkshire was given the go-ahead. TV entertainer Rolf Harris, working alongside TV personality SIR Michael Parkinson, spoke to The Slough and Windsor Observer after the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice was successful in its bid to build at Woodlands Park in Maidenhead.
The Slough-based charity was initially developed by Fiona and John Devine after their eight-year-old son died of a brain tumour. The Maidenhead Development Control Committee unanimously supported the project at a meeting on Wednesday (2 Nov 2011). Rolf Harris stated: "I think that is absolutely marvellous and I know that Michael Parkinson has been a very keen fundraiser for the charity. It is a fantastic thing and this will be a brilliant facility for the county." SIR Michael Parkinson further added: "I am delighted that the local council has granted planning consent and I think when you look back at what has been achieved in such a short time the whole community should feel a deep sense of pride." Maidenhead's MP Theresa May, who has always been a supporter of the scheme, said in a statement: "I am pleased that this application has gone through. Fiona Devine had been working hard to secure this, and it is an important hurdle to have overcome."
Rolf Harris was spotted in Chiswick today (6 Nov 2011) at The Lemongrove Gallery unveiling many of his original paintings. Last year he made his sixth appearance at Glastonbury in front of a crowd of 130,000.
